Review by hotel critic
Nestled in a 2-hectare park with a calming river, Château de Melin-B & B is a true gem in the heart of Burgundy. As a history enthusiast, I was captivated by its 16th-century charm, perfectly blended with modern amenities. This historical property offers a sun terrace with picturesque garden views, creating a serene atmosphere for a relaxing stay. The rooms, uniquely decorated and spacious, provide a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring the cultural highlights of Burgundy.Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and felt immediately at home. The air-conditioned rooms, some with balconies overlooking the château and the park, were elegantly designed with a modern touch. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the open shower in the en suite bathroom to the cozy seating areas. The continental breakfast served in the dining room was a delightful start to the day, setting the tone for a day of wine tasting. One of the standout features of Château de Melin is the warm hospitality of the owner, Helene. Her personalized touch, including homemade breads and tarts for breakfast, added a special touch to our stay. The property also boasts a wine cellar, a perfect spot to unwind and sample local wines. For those traveling with children, the large suite with 2 connection rooms offers ample space and privacy. While slightly more expensive than other options, the beauty of the grounds and the option to enjoy a picnic on-site make it worth the splurge. The convenience of free Wi-Fi throughout the property and the availability of babysitting services add to the overall comfort of the stay. A car is recommended for transportation to and from the property, and free private parking is available onsite. In conclusion, Château de Melin-B & B is a hidden treasure in Burgundy, offering a blend of history, luxury, and warm hospitality. Whether you're a history buff like me or simply seeking a peaceful retreat surrounded by vineyards, this charming château is a must-visit. I can't wait to return next year and savor the magic of this historical haven once again.
